Feeling happy

Studying overseas is a brave and positive step but you might feel out of your comfort zone at times. You might feel excited and happy one day, anxious, sad or lonely the next. These emotions are a natural part of your study adventure.

If you have any concerns about how you’re feeling talk to an international student advisor or teacher at your study institution.

If the feelings continue or get worse, or if you find you can’t sleep, are eating too much or too little, getting headaches or if you’re feeling unwell in any other way, you can also see a doctor.

Doctors in Australia are trained to help people who are feeling sad or lonely, as well as people who are physically ill and if necessary, can refer you to a counsellor or another person who can work with you to improve your health and wellbeing.
